Defense forces practice with Skyvan at Twente Airport

The Defense Department is practicing with a Short SC7 Skyvan S3 at Twente Airport on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13.

Pink Aviation Services' Austrian turboprop aircraft with registration OE-FDI will land at Twente Airport on Tuesday around 11 a.m.

The purpose of the exercise is to maintain the skills of the aircraft in so-called 'Landing Zone Operations'.

The exercise simulates an improvised airfield for tactical airborne operations in the field. The 'Tactical Landing Zone' (TLZ) is defined and a 'Tactical Aeronautical Station Operator' (TASO) provides the pilots with tactical airfield information, including meteorological information.  Training on radiotelephony (RT) procedures is included.

During the exercise, the aircraft will fly the 'North' and 'South' circuits as published in the Dutch Aviation Guide (AIP). As much as possible is taken into account to avoid (noise) nuisance.

Defense trains on the following times:

- Tuesday from 13.00h - 15.00h and from 18.00h - 20.00h;

- Wednesday from 16.00h - 18.00h and from 21.00h - 23.00h.

All local time.

Thursday will be practiced in the Arnhem area, the aircraft will land at Twente between practice sessions.

Friday the aircraft will depart again towards the Czech Republic during the morning.
