Defense exercise Joint Falcon near Twente Airport

On Tuesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 11, the Defense Helicopter Command's Air Assault Exercise Joint Falcon will take place near Twente Airport. The Royal Netherlands Air Force is practicing together with ground troops. In a fictitious scenario with increased threat, helicopter crews will train tactical flight movements close to the ground, in order to act correctly during deployment in any situation and environment.


Participating in this exercise are 2 Chinook transport helicopters and 1 Cougar transport helicopter.

When will there be consequences?

  • Tuesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m:
  • approach corridor from Gilze-Rijen Air Base through southeastern Gelderland and Twente plus Twente focus area (municipalities of Dinkelland, Borne, Oldenzaal, Losser, Hengelo and Enschede).
  • Thursday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m:
  • approach corridor from Gilze-Rijen Air Base through southeastern Gelderland and Twente.

This exercise will not take place at Twente Airport, but on and around the grounds of Vliegveld Twenthe Event Location.
