Solar Team Twente tests on runway

On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, Solar Team Twente conducted its parameterization tests on the runway of Twente Airport. These tests were designed to gather as much data as possible on RED Horizon, their newest solar car.

Through so-called roll-out tests, in which the car rolls out from a certain speed to standstill, factors such as air resistance, rolling resistance and consumption of the electric motor are charted. "For these tests, it is important that we have the space and can work undisturbed," said Reinoud Mulder, the team's technical manager. "There is no more suitable place than a runway for this kind of testing."

The test went flawlessly for the team. The data collected will form a strong basis for all strategic choices to be made during their race in Morocco later this year. Solar Challenge Morocco will be run from Oct. 25 to 29, in which Solar Team Twente will compete against competitors from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, among others.
